Zelaya talks with Honduran Army officer at border line

MANAGUA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya crossed on Friday with few steps the border between Nicaragua and Honduras.

Zelaya together with his Foreign Minister Patricia Rod as crossed the line and apparently he talked by phone with a high level officer from the Honduran Army.

Also Zelaya's supporters crossed the border with him and they were singing and claiming all kind of slogans which made difficult the dialogue between Zelaya and the soldier.

Meanwhile, some 100 meters from the place, the soldiers impeded the transit to the place.

Before Zelaya crossed, soldiers and police fired warning gunshots into the air and hurled tear gas at the crowd, causing a certain degree of chaos on the scene.

The soldiers have set at least 18 military check point from Tegucigalpa to the border with Nicaragua.
